Granite Bay an upscale community that previously was part of Roseville is an unincorporated community as of 1987. Granite Bay is just 24 miles northeast of Sacramento and covers an area of approximately 25 square miles and borders Lake Folsom. The community boasts of a very high quality of life due to its great location, super community plan, first rate schools, numerous churches and a low crime rate. Very exclusive custom homes are found here
 
Its roots go back when it was known as "Granite Bar" with many gold mines in the 1800's.  Granite Bay was named for the granite rock quarried from its banks and used a rip-rap in the wing dams of Folsom Dam. As you drive through Granite Bay it is very common to see all of the outcroppings of Granite. It gives distinction to this area.  There are several upscale gated communities and a superior Granite Bay golf course.
 
The Elementary students in Granite Bay are served by Eureka Union School District and High School students attend Granite Bay High in the Roseville Joint Union High School District.
